Evangelos Sapountzakis

Evangelos J. Sapountzakis is Professor of Structural Engineering at the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Director of the Laboratory of Statics & Earthquake Research, and an internal member of the NTUA Administrative Board. He is also Director of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Programme "Analysis and Design of Structures".

His research interests focus on computational structural mechanics, static and dynamic analysis of structures, structural stability and seismic response, as well as the assessment, design, strengthening and rehabilitation of engineering works and infrastructure.

He has coordinated and participated in more than 20 funded national, European and international research projects, covering advanced structural analysis, wind turbine structures, seismic protection and vibration-control systems, innovative construction technologies and the structural assessment of existing buildings and infrastructure. His publication record includes more than 350 publications in international scientific journals, conference proceedings and book chapters.
